glór arts for schools programme (GASP)

glór arts for schools programme (GASP)

glór is initiating a new pilot programme to provide further support for schools in County Clare to access arts performances at glór in 2018. glór’s goal with this programme is to increase engagement for pupils and students by reducing some of the financial obstacles that may be a barrier for attending ticketed performances off-site at glór.

We would like to partner with 2-4 primary schools and 2-4 secondary schools in this pilot phase of the programme. This programme is funded by The Arts Council and Creative Ireland.
In 2018 we will schedule at least 4 school focussed professional performances –and we are looking for schools interested in a special partnership with glór to attend these performances. The schools selected will receive a contribution to the cost of hiring a bus to transport the pupils/students to and from glór for the performances, as we recognise that can be a significant cost for families (€150 for Ennis area/€200 for County wide per performance). We will also offer a subsidised ticket price for the first 50 students attending the performances from each of the selected schools (this subsidy can be spread across the cost of total tickets, if more than 50 children are attending).

This is an incredible opportunity for a number of schools from across County Clare to enjoy a more engaged partnership with glór, enabling  hundreds of children and teenagers to see performances at a minimal cost. We seek commitment from the schools selected to engage with this programme during 2018, encouraging and facilitating the children to attend, and reviewing and debriefing with glór about its impact and value. We would intend to work with up to 2 primary schools and 2 secondary schools in the Ennis area, and up to 2 primary and secondary schools from the wider county.
