WHAT’S ON...
Rebecca Storm
This year Rebecca Storm celebrates 25 years in the music business. It all started at the age of 23 when Rebecca auditioned for her first musical show, "Blood Brothers", and won the lead role of Mrs Johnson - the Liverpudlian Catholic mother of seven - the author, Willy Russell, (Educating Rita, Shirley Valentine) was so captivated by her voice that he insisted that the Make Up Dept went to work to "age" the young actress!
After gaining rave reviews for her role Rebecca was catapulted into the world of Musical Theatre where she became a West End star and played some of the most demanding roles ever written for a leading lady.
Eva Peron in "Evita", Fantine in "Les Miserables", Grizabella in "Cats", Florence in "Chess", Rose in "Aspects of Love", Edith Piaf in "Piaf", Joan of Arc in "Jeanne" and many many more.
Rebecca also found the time to chalk up a number of Hit Singles including "Putting on A Show" and "Mr Love" and host a number of TV Shows including "An Evening with Rebecca Storm" & "Rebecca at The Cork Opera House"
In 2003 Rebecca was delighted to return to her very first role, Mrs Johnson in Blood Brothers, at The Gaiety Theatre, Dublin for a sold out run. This, in turn, led Rebecca to a full UK Tour of the show culminating in another sell-out run in Dublin & Cork in 2006.
Also in 2006 Rebecca delivered a powerful rendition of all of Barbra Streisand's classic hits in her show "The Streisand Songbook". Performing the Streisand songbook had long been an ambition of Rebecca's. Gay Byrne said it was "Absolutely superb, it is seldom you experience such an enjoyable evening of music in the theatre."
This Autumn to help celebrate Rebecca's 25 Anniversary she will undertake a nationwide tour with her band playing all the most memorable songs from her career to date including "Tell Me It's Not True" & "Marilyn Munro" from Blood Brothers, "Don't Cry For Me Argentina" from Evita and "Woman In Love" & "You Don't Bring Me Flowers" from The Streisand Songbook.
