For its 10th anniversary celebrations Amphitheatre Company, Kilkee brings the classic John B. Keane play 'Sive' to glór for two nights Tuesday 23rd and Wednesday 24th March.

Formed in 2000 Amphitheatre takes its name from the natural amphitheatre rock formation near Duggerna Rocks, Kilkee. It was formed with the specific intention of bringing quality drama and other cultural events to West Clare. In its 10 years it has succeeded admirably by staging 1 Act and Full Length plays, Summer Variety shows, Christmas Pantomimes, Poetry and Cultural Evenings, Theatre Evenings and Street Theatre.

This is Amphitheatre's third visit to glór. They previously presented John B. Keane's play "The Field" and an original Variety Show "The Class of 69" so they are looking forward to presenting 'Sive' in the theatre again.

'Sive' is undoubtably one of John B. Keane's finest works. It is a tale of Love, Lust, Greed and tragedy. The story of how a scheming matchmaker and a bitter woman plot to sell an innocent young girl to a lecherous old man and the terrible tradegy that ultimately unfolds.

Writtern in 1959 it was Keane's first play but the sentral theme is as fresh and original today as when it was first presented. A timeless tale and one of the greatest pieces of theatre to grace any stage.
